Liderul german a declarat că este impresionant ce reușește Republica Moldova și cetățenii săi pe drumul către UE. În cadrul vizitei, în orașul german Leipzig, președinta Sandu a primit premiul „Robert Blum pentru Democrație 2024”, oferit sub patronajul președintelui Germaniei, Frank-Walter Steinmeier. „Acest premiu nu este doar o recunoaștere a eforturilor mele, dar și o dovadă a rezilienței și determinării cetățenilor Republicii Moldova în calea spre democrație”, a spus Președinta.

Cancelarul Germaniei, Olaf Scholz, va efectua o vizită de lucru în R. Moldova în această vară. „Aș vrea să vă asigur că extinderea UE este în interesul strategic al întregii uniuni, al Germaniei și al Moldovei. Aștept cu nerăbdare continuarea cooperării noastre și, în special, vizita mea la Chișinău din această vară”, a declarat Olaf Scholz. Șefa statului se află într-o vizită de lucru în Germania, în perioada 17-18 mai, unde a avut întâlniri cu oficiali ai Germaniei, inclusiv președintele Steinmeier, cancelarul Olaf Scholz și președinta Bundestagului, Bärbel Bas. Premiul este însoțit de 25000 de euro, sumă pe care președinta o va dona.

Premiul care-i poartă numele este oferit la fiecare doi ani personalităților care s-au remarcat în promovarea drepturilor omului și democrației. Președinta a subliniat în discursul său că premiul „nu este doar o recunoaștere a eforturilor” sale, dar și o dovadă a „rezilienței și determinării cetățenilor Republicii Moldova în calea spre democrație”.
